Partnership to develop workforce

A viable partnership was sealed and celebrated between Huawei and the Northern Cape Urban (NCU) TVET College with the objective of developing a highly skilled information and communications technology (ICT) workforce in the province.

The ceremony was held at the Phatsimang Campus on Friday, 26 October, through the launch of the Huawei ICT Academy at the campus.

The ICT Academy is lauded as a win-win initiative for both partners as the NCU TVET College will gain access to Huawei’s leading training material and certification system.

It will further be able to give its students the best preparation for the ICT workplace.

Maison Mei from China expressed that Huawei and the ICT industry as a whole will benefit from the development of a sustainable talent ecosystem.

According to him, the campus has joined several institutions to benefit from the ICT Academy.

“This program has been well received by many other universities and colleges in the region,” Mei said.
